Boaz Livny
Boaz Livny is a CG and VFX supervisor, Technical Director and author of mental ray for Maya, 3ds max, and XSI: A 3D Artist’s Guide to Rendering. He is passionate about photography, and currently specializes in the photography aspects of 3D lighting, rendering, visual effects and compositing for high-end commercial and film. In 2004 Boaz established his own studio, Vision Animations in New York City. Through his studio, he has provided regular services, consultancy, and freelance support to various advertising, hi-tech, film and television production companies, such as Gravity, Psyop, Nice Shoes, The Artery VFX, mental images, Beverage Media Group and others. Some of his more recent roles included compositing on the Beck's Sapphire spot for the Super Bowl (Psyop), lighting and rendering technical director for Gravity on the film “Tower Heist” and CG / VFX Supervisor at Nice Shoes on Lady Gaga's “Marry the Night” music video and Kanye West's "Cruel Summer" short film.
Boaz also works as a professor for master’s-level and bachelor’s-level courses at SVA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects department (BFA) and MFA programs. His classes include advanced Lighting and Rendering, Materials, Advanced Nuke (two-year program he developed for SVA), and Production Skills classes. His CG Workshop is a condense-intensive, covering various topics he regularly uses in production and teaches at these academic universities.
